How to choose the right carpet cleaning professional for you - Questions to ask

Vacating a property, moving home or preparing your property for sale can be a costly exercise and we don’t believe in adding to this burden.  It is paramount for families and individuals to be able to fulfil their cleaning obligations and leave a property in a clean and sanitary manner.  It is just as important to be able to expect this of the next property you are moving into.

Always be sure to get competitive quotes, and make sure you know what you are being quoted on.  Don’t trade in quality service, professional equipment and high standards for the cheapest price.  You could be risking damage to your property, or the one that you are leasing.  This may cost more in the long run.

When asking for carpet cleaning quotes, ask the following questions:

Do you use a truck-mounted carpet cleaning machine or similar?
It is important that the equipment being used to clean a carpet is well maintained, heating and extracting water effectively.  At no time do you want someone rocking up to your home with a portable supermarket hire machine and charging you for professional carpet cleaning!

Is your pricing all-inclusive or will I be charged extra for spot or stain removal?
Only accept an all-inclusive price.  Be honest with the person you are talking to and let them know if your carpet is heavily soiled, they can then be prepared to solve the problem for you, at the price you have been quoted.  No one likes hidden surprises.

What qualifications and experience do you have?
Qualifications are important when you are entrusting someone to carry out work in your home, or someone else’s.  Inexperience can cause damage, unnecessary expense and sometimes a disaster!!  However, having a qualified operator should not mean that you pay an exorbitant price.  Being trained appropriately means that an individual, or the business they work for, care about the industry they operate within and the finished product.  An industry standard for Carpet cleaning & Water Damage Restoration is www.iicrc.org

Are you Licensed and Insured to carry out the work I want you to do?
Appropriate licensing and insurance means that you are protected and so is the person working for you, it’s a win-win.  It also means that they are up to date with Industry standards including safety requirements and regulations.  It means that they care.

Do you have a cancellation policy?
I recently read a post from a business that said if you cancelled within 7 days of your booking you may be charged a 50% (of the quoted price) cancellation fee!  This is ludicrous.  You are entitled to change your mind.  Communication is courteous and you should always give the business as much notice as possible, this gives them the opportunity to fill your spot with another booking.  But do not agree to a steep cancellation fee, because life happens and sometimes you cannot avoid cancelling.  Ask for information on a cancellation policy and if you don't like what you hear, move on.

Asking these questions does not mean you pay a higher price.
Do your research and pay an acceptable, industry standard price for good, old fashioned service.
